The form will include three important pieces of information for the sender: the name and signature of the person to whom the piece was delivered, the date of delivery, and information about the recipient’s actual delivery address.Ĭertified Mail with Electronic Return Receipt: The Electronic Return Receipt does everything the hardcopy Return Receipt does, but, as you guessed, it’s electronic. Upon delivery, the carrier has the recipient sign the card, and it is returned to the sender via First-Class Mail. The sender attaches the green card to the mail piece before it enters the mail stream. There are times to be thrifty, and times when doing so is "penny wise and pound foolish. Here’s how it works. In other situations, at most one was acknowledged by the Internal Revenue Service, and the taxpayer was left to argue about how it sent the others.Īgain, keep in mind that the cost of a single mailing of a single item is far cheaper than the time and expense required to "undo the problem" if the IRS claims it didn't receive something. When they were lucky, the IRS "received" all three and acted upon them individually. The writer has known of people who claim to have sent two or more tax returns or other documents in the same envelope. One last comment: never send more than one item (other than a cover letter, check and return-which is like one "item") in the same envelope. Seems like a flimsy reason to this writer, but it is not something to dicker about when certified mail is available. Use of Priority Mail, a certificate of mailing, an Express Mail receipt, delivery confirmation, and signature confirmation might seem to be likely candidates for the same treatment, but the IRS has declined to accept them as proof of timely mailing as it does certified or registered mail on the ground that Congress has not authorized it to do so. Postal Service, sending documents by Federal Express or UPS will likewise qualify. People who forego the slight additional cost of certified mail with a return receipt are gambling a great deal more than the simple out-of-pocket cost involved. Pursuant to that statute, if you send it by certified or registered mail, and have that proof of mailing in hand, you will have virtually bulletproof evidence that the item was sent to the IRS when it was in fact sent. But that begs the question "how do you prove it was timely sent?" This is true for returns, protests, claims, and many other items. If you can prove that something was sent to the IRS by the due date, such as a return, it is deemed "received" on the day sent even if it is actually received several days later. It is known as the "timely mailing, timely filing" rule. Fortunately, Internal Revenue Code Section 7502 provides a very reliable means for addressing this problem. If you miss a deadline, such as the extension date for filing your tax return, you could face a penalty of 5% a month or for late payments of not less than ½ % per month (both of which max out at 25%), or loss of collection due process hearing rights if a response to a Final Notice is not sent within the 30 days provided by statute. There are severe penalties for failure to file certain documents on time. Unfortunately, those systems in and of themselves don't tell you "when" the IRS received them. When you send a return showing a tax due, you know it was received when you get a bill. You don't necessarily know that if you send a cashier's check, by the way. If you send a payment to the IRS by check, you know that the IRS has received it when it clears your bank. For instance, when you file a return claiming a refund, you know it was received when the refund check arrives. When a return or payment is submitted through these systems, a receipt is generated, and only an idiot would fail to make a hard copy of that receipt.įor people not using those systems, there are a number of indicators we can rely on. However, the system is increasingly going toward electronic filing of business payments through a system known as EFTPS as well as all returns. The IRS accepts very little "electronically," as in via the Internet. So let's look at the ways things are sent. That said, how do you know the IRS actually received what you sent? This is not an idle question, as the IRS' failure to timely receive some of those items can result in serious problems for a taxpayer, ranging from penalties to significant expenditures of time and money to get a problem fixed. I've even known of some people who have sent "thank you notes" to IRS employees who seem to have gone above and beyond the call of duty to assist them. Tax returns, payments, responses to inquiries, and claims for refund are the most frequent but certainly not an exhaustive list. In any given year, a person is likely to send one or more of a fairly standard variety of items to the IRS.

Inhaling vapor straight into your lungs is something that you can't do with a tobacco cigarette and this style of vaping might seem a big weird and uncomfortable at first. If you are still a smoker, want to make the transition from smoking or are a vaping beginner, then probably mouth to lung is the best option for you, as it comes as a reflex from puffing on combustible cigarettes. People who prefer mouth to lung vaping are usually the ones who use standard resistances (above the 1 Ohm limit) and those who prefer direct lung inhale use sub-ohm resistances (below the 1 Ohm limit). Mouth to lung vaping is just like puffing on an actual cigarette, with the vapor going first into the user's mouth and then lungs while direct lung vaping means inhaling the vapor straight into the lungs. The two main styles of vapingĪnd speaking about the different styles of vaping, we have two main categories of e-smokers – the ones who prefer mouth to lung hits and the ones who prefer lung hits. Nobody knew back then that this small part of the industry would surpass the traditional electronic cigarette in only a few years and this is why nowadays we have so many mods and rebuildable atomizers instead of cig-a-likes and other 'cigarette' shaped devices.īut this transition of the industry had a positive effect on the millions of people who are using e-cigarettes today and this is mainly due to the wider choice of devices suited for each style of vaping. People noticed that by lowering the resistance the amount of vapor was getting bigger and bigger, however the only limit was the continuous discharge rate of batteries.īut, what started out more as a hobby, quickly developed into a separate niche with numerous small companies starting to manufacture mechanical mods and rebuildable atomizers to appeal to those vapers who wanted a lot more than a standard cig-a-like or your standard Ego style Vaporizer pen. This simple rule slowly transformed into a hobby for vaping enthusiasts a couple of years ago, and they started developing vaping mods and atomizers in an effort to push the limits of their devices for the biggest clouds ever puffed. There's a direct link between resistance and the amount of vapor a device can produce, and it's usually the lower the ohms the bigger the clouds. However, because they weren't powerful enough and couldn't deliver a consistent amount of nicotine (despite some flavor cartridges topping a maximum of 3.6mg) manufacturers started developing improved versions of the same products with more powerful batteries and lower resistance atomizers. These devices were called cig-a-likes and they were able to produce a decent amount of vapor from those resistances. Many of the initial atomizers and cartomizers had resistances between 2 – 3 ohms and they were designed to replicate the feeling of tobacco cigarettes to the last detail. The link between Ohms and vaporīack when electronic cigarettes were first introduced on the market there was no such thing as sub ohm vaping. The lower the resistance, the faster a coil heats up to a certain temperature and controlling this value is key in delivering a satisfying experience. What is an Ohmįirst of all, ohms represent a unit of measurement for resistance, and when it comes to vaping they translate to how difficult is for the electrical current from the battery to pass through the heating coil. For this reason I decided to take some time and write this article about vaping ohms explained, so that any e-smoker, regardless of his or her experience with e-cigarettes could understand the differences between coils. If you're familiar with the online communities you're probably hearing a lot about sub ohm vaping, twisted coils, direct lung hits and massive clouds but for a beginner these terms might be confusing and could give you the wrong impression about the general aspects of vaping.Įvery week I answer to several email and dozens of chat requests where people ask me what ohms should they choose, if sub ohm vaping is better than regular vaping and why is the vapor coming off their newly bought mod so hot. Since the introduction of the electronic cigarette a few years ago, the vaping industry has been continuously shifting towards newer products and vaping styles and one very important aspect of this transition is the ohms we're vaping on today. As with cooking a dinner, there's no "right" way to install a router, and every model is likely to have its own unique steps, depending on its features. With the username and password set, you can proceed to configure your router's settings. Be sure to use a secure password that includes a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. Often, these defaults are something like "admin" and "admin," which every would-be hacker knows, so make sure to change these right away. If you happen to have a pre-owned router, the username and password can be reset to factory defaults by holding a recessed button somewhere on the router (usually the back). The first step to get your network up and running will be to set up a username and password. Then, of course, you need to plug your router into a wall outlet and turn it on. Ensure your modem is turned on, and you'll be ready to connect to the internet. This port might look slightly different from router to router, but it will usually have a distinct color from the other ports and be labeled "WAN," "Internet," or something similar. From the WAN port, connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on the back of your modem. For this, you'll need an Ethernet cable, which you'll want to plug into the WAN (wide-area network) port on your router's rear face. Start this process by connecting your router to your modem. But for those working with standard routers or even wireless range extenders, this will require some patience and testing to see where your optimal placement areas are. Wi-Fi mesh systems get around this problem by letting you place an attractively designed node wherever coverage is weakest. Try to avoid proximity to large metal, glass, brick, or concrete objects. Be aware that walls and floors will impede Wi-Fi signals, so the more obstructions you have between your devices and your router, the weaker (and potentially slower) the signal will be. Finding an open space near the center of your residence is the best way to ensure optimal coverage. How to buy the best router - Clarification Pleaseīefore getting started, you need to consider where you'll place your router. Wi-Fi mesh makes all that go away with a very quick and easy path to initial setup and a series of compatible "nodes" that integrate seamlessly into a single wireless network that blankets your entire home. While you can increase the coverage in your home with a standard router and a wireless range extender, that solution tends to make users jump through a few additional hoops to get things working smoothly, notably forcing users to log into different wireless networks depending on where they are in the home. Wi-Fi mesh systems are for folks willing to pay a little more for two primary benefits: easy basic setup, and whole-home Wi-Fi coverage. (Check out our Wi-Fi 6 explainer for more in-depth information first.) There are still plenty of capable Wi-Fi 5 routers out there that will handle light to moderate networking needs, but if you want the latest technology and the performance it brings, you’ll want to go with a Wi-Fi 6 router. When choosing a router, you’ll have to decide whether you want a Wi-Fi 6 router, a Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) router, or a Wi-Fi mesh system. If the main battery voltage is lower than the voltage of the auxiliary battery, the separator will engage both batteries to help an engine start.Ī summary of the performance benefits of battery separators include: Upon engagement of the engine starter, the battery separator compares the voltage in the main and auxiliary batteries. In addition to protecting the charging system and the main battery from damage, a battery separator can assist in engine starting. While battery isolators are typically diode-based devices and allow current to flow in only one direction, battery separators support bidirectional current flow. This process of managing the charges on both batteries continues as long as the engine is running.īattery separators are available in a variety of termination options. If left connected, a damaged auxiliary battery can potentially drain the main battery. Typically, at a voltage of about 12.8Vdc, the auxiliary battery will be disconnected from the charger to protect the charging system. When the charging system voltage on the main battery reaches about 13.2Vdc, indicating a charged main battery, the battery separator will engage and enable the auxiliary battery to be charged. If the overall charge needs are greater than the alternator can support, the battery separator disconnects the auxiliary battery and sends all charge current to the main battery. When the engine is first started, the battery separator disconnects the auxiliary battery from the system and senses the charge needs of both batteries. For example, when the engine is started, the battery separator monitors the voltages of the main battery, the auxiliary battery, and the charging system voltages. While battery isolators are relatively simple devices, battery separators (sometimes called “smart battery isolators”) are more complex and perform several functions. Smart battery isolators, also called battery separators, using relays are more flexible than diode-based general purpose isolators. If a common diode-based isolator is used, lower system efficiencies result from the diode drop added to the circuit between the charging power source and the batteries. Isolating the batteries prevents a weak or dead battery (usually the auxiliary battery) from draining charge from a strong battery (often the primary battery). This supports simultaneously charging more than one battery from a single alternator or other power sources without connecting the batteries in parallel. There are system performance tradeoffs between battery separators and battery isolators and between various implementations of battery isolators.Ī battery isolator is used to separate the DC bus into multiple (isolated) branches and only allow current flow in one direction in each branch. Adding a second battery system for auxiliary loads can resolve that concern, but it must be properly wired into the vehicle’s electrical system. If a single battery system is used, the battery can become drained when the engine is off, and auxiliary loads are drawing power, resulting in an inability to start the engine. Disconnecting the two allows the separator to prioritize the charging of the batteries. On the other hand, battery separators are designed to protect the charging system from excessive electrical loads by separating (disconnecting) the main and auxiliary batteries from one another. Battery isolators are designed to prevent auxiliary batteries from draining the main battery. Battery cell isolators and battery cell separators are used to control current flow in multi-battery systems in a range of vehicles, including recreational vehicles, boats, utility vehicles, airplanes, large trucks, and off-road vehicles that accommodate auxiliary loads and high current loads such as a recovery winch.
